Constantine was an emperor of Ancient Rome from 307A.D.-337A.D. He moved the capital from Rome to Byzantium, which he renamed Constantinople. Constantinople is modern-day Istanbul. The capital remained there until 1453. By 324, Constantine had reunited the empire under his rule. Constantine also allowed people freedom of worship.
